Finally...

At long last Ante Gotovina has been captured and is on his way to Hague, despite the endless obstructionism of Croatian nationalists and, reportedly, the aid of the Catholic Church. This is happy news indeed.

Hopefully, continuing progress in capturing the key perpetrators of the atrocities that wrecked the Balkan states will go some way towards healing wounds and improving stability and integration in these prospective EU member states.

But at the very least, it should send a message: The Hague is not impotent. The international community will not sit passively by and watch the likes of Milosevic and Pinochet squirm away into peaceful retirement.
